The aromas of the cocoa beans depends upon which fruit trees are grown around the cacao trees. In the Dominican Republic the cacao plantations are surrounded by Avocado, Mango, Banana, citrus (Orange and Grapefruit), Passionfruit and Tamarind trees. This has created a uniquely aromatic cacao bean found only in this country. The cacao cultivar grown here is called "Trinitario" .
